Tender Heart by bluepebbledesigns

A romantic necklace that was inspired by the character of Inara, who is feminine, yet strong, loving, yet scared to love. Of all the characters on Firefly, bluepebbledesigns believes that Inara understands love the most, but its power scares her and keeps her searching the universe for a safe place to shelter her heart.

BDH - An ACEO by Figments

BDH, or Big Damn Heroes, is Figment's entry in the February BDC challenge. This ACEO is a tribute to Firefly/Serenity. The base is 22 gauge steel and it measures 2.5" x 3.5", standard ACEO size. Shiny! Two tiny revolvers, a temperature gauge, Buddha, a key and a train wheel join the kanji symbols for Serentiy on this fun piece. And the number in the upper right indicates the Number 1 ranking of Firefly and Serenity in the hearts of the fans.

Ceramic Amulet Pendant LOVE by trinlayk

This is a pretty ceramic pendant about 1" wide, attached with a sterling silver bale. The character on the pendant says "LOVE".

Browncoat Floral Kaylee Polymer Clay Beads by valeriebeads

Rather than pick the obvious, valeriebeads went with the episode she loves the most, which involves Kaylee and a big fluffy pink dress. Kaylee loved that dress, and it stood for a world that she rarely got to be a part of. So, in honor of the episode "Shindig" valeriebeads presents her BDC challenge piece. The beads measure approximately 13mm and feature a tiny signature cane near the hole. These beads are glossed to give them shine. If you'd like to purchase this beads, visit valeriebeads's shop, here.

February BDC Challenge Entries - Post 1

There were some gorgeous entries into this month's BDC Challenge - "Love in the 'verse" (if you need a reminder on what the Challenge details were, click here). Because there were so many entries, I've split them up into several posts (5 entries per post) and will be posting them until I've listed them all.

So...here are the first batch of the entries (in no particular order)...Leave a comment and let us know what you think!

Proud to be a Browncoat Necklace by Siarh

This necklace shows off Siarh's love of being a browncoat. 19" necklace made of Latte Jasper, malachite, and yellow adventurite beads with pewter accents. The yellow and green come from the browncoat patch from the war against the Alliance. The brown...that's quite obvious. The pendant is fastened to the necklace by a start-shaped bead, symbolizing the single star in the middle of the above-mentioned patch.

If you'd like to purchase this necklace, visit Siarh's shop, Pequest Designs.

Serenity Tea Tray by ancientgamecupbaord

This tray is a collage of brocade silk (for the Asian influence in the series), faux suede (depicting the 'Space Western' genre and the Browncoats) and parchment in a black frame with silver-colored handles. The parchment has the Chinese PinYin "Serenity".

If you'd like to purchase this tea tray, visit ancientgamecupboard's shop, Antiquity Gamecrafters.

Set of 3 Serenity Crocheted Roses by scarywhitegirl

Scarywhitegirl noticed that the colors of the hat that Jayne's mom knits for him are the same as the Serenity logo on the side of the ship and decided to turn that into a love bouquet of roses. Real flowers wither and die, but crocheted flowers maintain their beauty forever.

If you'd like to purchase these roses, visit scarywhitegirl's shop, Scary White Girl Designs.

Heart of Gold Earrings by BrightCircle

These earrings are a tribute to an extraordinary woman named Nandi. Crimson Czech glass represents her passion, and the blood she gave up to keep her people together. The coins indicate her less-than-savory profession, and the golden hearts show that she was, by the reckoning of many, a good woman at heart.

If you'd like to purchase these earrings, visit BrightCircle's shop, Bright Circle.

Kaylees New Fluffy Frippery Scarf by gypsycaster

This is a little something Kaylee picked up for herself to celebrate Valentine's Day. This scarf is in honor of Kaylee, ship's engineer on board the Firefly class ship Serenity. It measures 6 1/2' long by 5" wide, and hand knit from neo-silk and spun plasma. (synthetic yarns and Angelina fibre).

If you'd like to purchase this scarf, visit gypsycaster's shop, Gypsy's Mad Crafting Habit.

Featured Item: Set of 3 Large Asian Inspired Print Magnets (with metal tin) by scarywhitegirl

Price: $4.00

The design on these beautiful magnets was taken from an image of floating Chinese lanterns in shades of red. This is the second of two coordinating sets.

Each magnet is constructed from a glass bead, measuring approximately 1 1/2" in diameter, though the beads do vary slightly in size and shape, and may contain slight imperfections in the glass. Behind the glass bead is an image from a magazine, mounted to cardstock, and then to a strong ceramic magnet.

The 3 magnets come in a small metal Altoids tin, measuring approximately 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" by 3/4".

Featured Item: Faux Leather Scroll Pendant by ladyartisan

Price: $24.00

BDC member ladyartisan has created an amazing pendant that does double-duty as a small notebook. How creative is that?

The scroll "cover" is made from a bendable polymer clay in a custom-mixed brown, textured on the outside and antiqued on both sides with dark brown acrylic paint to look like leather. It's lightly buffed to give it a gentle shine, enhancing the leather look.

The scroll is approximately 1.75" wide (45mm) and, when closed it's approximately 1" around (25mm) depending on how tightly you roll it when you close it. Open "flat," the scroll cover is 3.25" x 1.75" (85mm x 45mm). The design is a geometric triangle pattern.

The paper is Arches Text Wove and measures approximately 1.75" x 2.25" (45mm x 60mm). There are 5 sheets, attached with a single black, unwaxed linen cord looped through two holes at the top of the pages and the cover and then tied in a knot on the outside. This could be easily refilled with your own paper. There is a single gold jump ring for hanging this on a cord. The scroll is secured with a thin (I think it's 2mm) black, leather cord.

When closed, it makes a lovely and unique pendant. You could wear it around your neck or attach it to a keyring.

Click here if you'd like to purchase this unique pendant, or visit ladyartisan's shop for more shiny treasures!
